The problem

To reduce emissions and meet international environmental standards, the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) has
been developed to remove soot from the exhaust gases of diesel engines. Soot is caused by the incomplete
combustion of the fuel.

The problem arises when ash and contamination build up in the filter and eventually clog the pores, reducing
its effectiveness. The 'clogging' will eventually lead to a strong increase in NOx emissions and fuel consumption
will increase. Regular maintenance of the filter is therefore necessary.

Many diesel engines with DPF are equipped with an automatic regeneration program that consists of injecting
more fuel into the engine to achieve a higher combustion temperature in order to destroy the particulate
build-up.

However, this can also result in the problem of unburnt fuel mixing with engine oil in the lower part of the
engine, potentially causing damage. Moreover, such a regeneration is by no means always possible because
many cars are used in the city, and many are stuck in traffic jams. As a result, the necessary temperature at
which the particles are burned is not reached.

That is why Bardahl has developed a DPF Cleaner (Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner), suitable for any type of
engine equipped with a DPF

Bardahl DPF Cleaner:

 Lowers combustion temperature to destroy soot: soot particles normally burn at temperatures above
600°C. But by the time they are in the filter, the temperature has already dropped to 300-350°C. These leads
to an accumulation of unburnt particles on the filter. This cleaner lower the temperature at which
suspended particles burn. This removes the built-up deposits from the filter.

 Stops clogging due to the accumulation of soot.

 Prevents damage to the specific components that allow the combustion of harmful particles.

 Prevents an increase in fuel consumption, loss of performance and replacement of expensive parts due to
filter clogging.

 Burns and destroys soot in the filter.

− Extends the life and proper functioning of the diesel particulate filter.

 It works according to the catalyst principle of chemistry, improving/accelerating the process (burning
particles) without having a negative impact on the process (e.g., changes in emissions).

 Fully compatible with automotive elastomers.

Instructions

Pour the contents of the can into the fuel tank (30-60 liters of diesel). Advice; we advise to have this treatment
carried out every 7000km or twice a year to allow the DPF filter to work optimally
